Abyss & Habidecor has been producing luxury bath linen for over 40 years in the Viseu region of northern Portugal, under the direction of founder Celso de Lemos. The brand built its reputation on a single, consistent principle: using Egyptian Giza Extra Long Staple cotton — widely considered the finest cotton in the world — not only in the pile of the towel, where most manufacturers use it, but across all three weaving directions: weft, warp, and pile. This distinction matters structurally. Using Giza ELS cotton throughout produces a towel that is lower in lint, more dimensionally stable, and significantly more durable across repeated washing than towels built on a lower-grade base.
