Description
The World’s Only Three-Direction Egyptian Cotton Towel
Most towels labelled “Egyptian cotton” use that term loosely. Super Pile is different. It uses only Giza extra-long staple cotton — a specific variety from the Nile Delta with longer fibres. Because of those longer fibres, the pile is denser, more durable, and stays soft for longer.
Standard towels are woven in two directions: warp and weft. Super Pile adds a third — the pile itself. This extra weaving direction gives the towel structural depth that two-direction construction simply cannot achieve. No other towel uses this method with the same raw material. That is not a marketing claim. It is a construction fact.
What 700 g/m² Actually Feels Like
Weight matters in a towel. At 700 grams per square metre, Super Pile feels substantial in your hands. It holds its shape on a hook rather than drooping. However, it is not heavy in a cumbersome way — because the weight sits in the pile rather than the base, the towel also dries faster than you would expect.
In addition, the towel gets softer with each wash. Most towels degrade over time. Super Pile improves. That is a direct result of the long-staple fibre structure.
No Dobby Border — Every Centimetre Works
Most towels have a decorative woven border. It looks intentional, but it contributes nothing to absorbency. Super Pile removes it entirely. The pile runs edge to edge, so every part of the towel absorbs moisture. The only structural element is a single hidden seam at the corner, finished with the signature bias cut.
White in a Bathroom — Why It Endures
White is the default of luxury hospitality for a reason. It reads as clean and fresh regardless of what surrounds it. However, white also ages badly when the cotton quality is poor — yellowing, greying, and developing uneven tones after repeated washing.
Because Super Pile uses Giza extra-long staple cotton, the surface resists degradation. Independent testing proved the collection superior in absorption, durability, and colour fastness against other luxury brands. For white specifically, that colour fastness is everything.

FAQ
What makes Giza cotton different from standard Egyptian cotton?
Most towels use “Egyptian cotton” as a general label. However, it covers a wide range of fibre lengths and quality grades. Super Pile uses only Giza extra-long staple cotton. This is a specific variety from the Nile Delta. The longer fibres spin into finer, stronger yarn. As a result, the pile stays smooth, absorbs efficiently, and resists pilling after months of washing. In fact, this cotton represents the top 1% of the world’s cotton crop. The difference between “Egyptian cotton” and “Giza extra-long staple” is the difference between a label and a specification.
What does three-direction weaving mean, and why does it matter?
Standard terry towels use two weaving directions: warp and weft. These form the base fabric. Super Pile adds a third direction — the pile. This is the looped surface that touches your skin and absorbs water. Importantly, Abyss & Habidecor weaves the pile from the same Giza cotton as the base. Most manufacturers use a cheaper fibre for the pile to reduce costs. Because Super Pile does not, the entire structure has consistent strength and absorbency throughout. The result is minimal lint and exceptional durability.
