Description
Some chairs are defined by contrast. The Pallone PA in mustard bouclé and camel leather takes a different approach — a tonal combination where seat and backrest share the same warmth, just expressed through different materials and depths of colour.
One palette, two textures
The seat is upholstered in mustard bouclé — a dense, looped fabric with a richness that photographs don’t fully capture. The camel leather backrest sits a tone lighter, smooth against the textured base. From across the room it reads as a single statement. Up close, the material detail holds its own.
The design behind the shape
Roy de Scheemaker created the Pallone in 1989 for Leolux, originally as part of a project to furnish the Dutch House of the Future. The ball-shaped seat was built around comfort first — a moulded foam core inside a sculptural shell. Chrome legs keep the form elevated and light. Dimensions: 86 cm wide × 84 cm deep × 73 cm high, seat height 45 cm.
Still collecting awards
The Pallone holds the “Beste Nederlandse Meubelontwerp,” “Designpreis Schweiz,” and “Good Industrial Design” awards. Each piece is made to order in the Netherlands.
