Most robes use twisted fibres to build up the pile. Uchino’s patented Zero Twist yarn uses almost no twist at all. This keeps the cotton fibres open and loose — creating a surface that is exceptionally soft against skin from the very first wear.
Furthermore, the cotton is extra-long staple and combed before spinning. Shorter fibres are removed entirely. As a result, the robe sheds minimal fluff and maintains its cloud-like texture wash after wash.
Terry Pile With a Purpose
The CL Zero Twist robe uses a deep, dense terry pile construction. This makes it genuinely warm and enveloping — the right choice for post-bath use, cold mornings, or extended lounging.
However, it does not feel heavy or suffocating. The Zero Twist construction keeps the pile airy even at this depth. Moreover, 3% polyester is blended into the cotton to reinforce the pile structure and extend the robe’s lifespan without affecting the soft hand feel.

The two robes serve different purposes. The CL Zero Twist uses a deep terry pile construction — it is warm, plush, and enveloping. It is the right choice for post-bath warmth and cold mornings. The Waffle Bathrobe uses a lightweight waffle piqué construction. It is breathable, fast-drying, and better suited for warmer conditions or extended daily wear.
