The Edel-Molton (the name translates from German as “fine molton” or “noble fleece”) is a 3mm thick, napped cotton molton protector — a fabric with a soft, slightly raised surface that absorbs moisture readily and creates an exceptionally comfortable layer between sleeper and fitted sheet. Unlike thin, clinical-feeling protectors that simply sit on top of the mattress, the Edel-Molton has genuine presence and substance. It feels considered, not merely functional.
Cotton is among the most effective natural materials for moisture absorption, and the Edel-Molton’s composition — 82% cotton, 16% polyamide, 2% elastane — amplifies this. The addition of polyamide increases the fabric’s capacity to absorb and hold perspiration, including the salts and minerals it carries, compared to a 100% cotton alternative. The elastane component ensures the protector stretches smoothly over the mattress and holds its shape without shifting or bunching during the night.
The protector envelops the mattress fully in the Bella Donna fitted-sheet format — wrapping around all four sides and tucking cleanly beneath, with the elasticated border held out of sight. The result is a beautifully smooth, seamless sleeping surface with no visible edges, no ridges through the fitted sheet, and no movement during the night. A “clever corner” sewn into the construction ensures correct orientation at every change.
Three versions are available to suit different bed configurations: the Standard fits mattresses up to 30cm deep, the La Piccola is designed for toppers up to 12cm, and the Alto accommodates high mattresses and boxspring combinations up to 45cm. This makes the Edel-Molton equally at home on a Vispring, a Schramm, or a TEMPUR® — protecting whichever mattress it is paired with.
Washable at 60°C, the Edel-Molton launders easily and dries quickly, maintaining full protective performance with every wash.
