The Auping Auronde is one of the most enduring bed designs in Europe. It was created in 1973 in collaboration with designer Frans de la Haye and has sold over one million units in the Netherlands alone.
The design has never needed reinventing. Its clean lines, bold proportions, and modular structure remain as relevant today as they were fifty years ago. Furthermore, the Auronde has evolved over time — available in more colours, heights, and configurations than ever before.
It is a bed built to last generations, not just years.
Laminated Beech Wood and Aluminium
The Auronde frame is made from laminated beech wood — one of the strongest and most stable hardwoods used in furniture production. The frame is finished with aluminium details that give it a precise, contemporary edge.
Moreover, the Auronde comes with the Auping mesh base as standard. The mesh base is 85% open space, making it the most breathable bed support system available. As a result, air circulates freely beneath the mattress throughout the night. This actively contributes to sleep quality and mattress longevity.
The mesh base is available in flat or adjustable versions.
A Modular System You Configure to Your Taste
The Auronde is not a fixed product — it is a modular system. You choose the frame colour, the base type, the height, and the accessories.
Optional additions include a headboard, a back element, and sliding bedside tables with or without a magazine holder. Furthermore, you can mix and match colours across the frame, headboard, and details to create a bed that is entirely your own.

Auping has manufactured beds and mattresses in Deventer, the Netherlands since 1888. Every Auronde is handcrafted in their factory and produced to the same standard that has made the brand a fixture in Dutch homes for over a century.
