Weseta

Weseta is the only terry weaving mill left in Switzerland. The company was founded in 1864 by Leonhard Blumer, then nineteen years old, in the Sernftal valley in Glarus — at the height of the Swiss textile industry. Over 160 years later it is still a family business, still weaving in Glarnerland.

Everything is made in Switzerland, at the mill in Engi and a second in Niederurnen. The cotton is bought personally by the company’s head from spinning mills and cotton farms selected over many years. The looms in Engi run on CO2-free electricity from Weseta’s own hydroelectric plant.

The range is built around different feels rather than one house style. Dreamflor has been the bestseller for decades: a special weaving process gives it a velvety surface that survives repeated washing, at a light 420 g/m². Puro sits at the other end — a heavy, voluminous 600 g/m² terry with no borders or trim, plain by design. Dream Royal, the newest, is the softest terry Weseta has made.
