Description
Roy de Scheemaker designed the Pallone in 1989 for Chriet Titulaer’s House of the Future in Rosmalen. The brief was simple: create seating that looked like nothing else. More than three decades later, it still doesn’t.
A study in material contrast
The seat is wrapped in ivory bouclé — a dense, looped textile that holds its shape while adding tactile warmth to the room. The backrest is smooth black leather, contoured to cradle the lower back. The gap between the two materials is intentional. It’s what gives this configuration its edge.
Compact form, genuine comfort
The Pallone PA is smaller than it looks in photographs. At 86 cm wide × 84 cm deep × 73 cm high, with a 45 cm seat height, it fits comfortably into a reading corner or beside a bed. The moulded foam core provides consistent support without sacrificing the chair’s sculptural silhouette.
Multiple design awards
The Pallone holds the “Beste Nederlandse Meubelontwerp,” “Designpreis Schweiz,” and “Good Industrial Design” awards, and has been crowned by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen.
