Description

The TEMPUR® Flat Base That Actively Participates in Your Sleep

The TEMPUR® Premium Flex 500 Flat Bed Base is not a passive platform — it is a flat, non-adjustable base with a sophisticated internal engineering that actively contributes to sleep quality. Its flexible honeycomb plate construction, 4-zone ergonomic layout, and adjustable shoulder zone make it the most technically refined flat base in Sleep Gallery’s range — a base that enhances the performance of any TEMPUR® mattress placed on it. It is delivered and assembled in your home free of charge in Tbilisi by Sleep Gallery’s professional team.

Flexible Honeycomb Plates — The Same Differential Surface as the Flex 2000

The Premium Flex 500 uses the same flexible honeycomb plate technology as the adjustable Flex 2000 — the only difference is that the 500 is fixed flat rather than motorised.

The base consists of 50 individual flexible spring elements made with an open honeycomb structure. Each element is not rigidly connected to its neighbours — it responds independently to the pressure applied directly above it, absorbing force both lengthways and crossways in the same way as a joint. This differential surface distributes the weight from the TEMPUR® mattress above more evenly than any rigid slatted or platform base can achieve.

The specially developed airlift ventilation system — the open honeycomb structure combined with the regular gap pattern between elements — creates active airflow channels between the base and the mattress continuously. This removes heat and moisture from beneath the mattress, maintains a cooler sleeping surface, and extends the mattress’s lifespan significantly by preventing the moisture accumulation that degrades foam over time. The flexible plates yield smoothly to every movement of the body — the base moves with the sleeper rather than resisting.

Four Ergonomic Zones — Different Firmness for Different Body Areas

The Premium Flex 500 divides the base into four distinct zones, each using spring elements with different firmness profiles calibrated to the body’s varying weight distribution and pressure requirements:

Head zone — firm spring elements that provide stable, non-compressible support for the pillow and head area, preventing sinking at the headward end of the mattress.

Shoulder zone — the softest zone, using the Dynamic Slat System with specially compliant spring elements that allow the shoulder to sink naturally into the surface, relieving upward pressure on the shoulder joint and improving lateral spinal alignment. This is particularly significant for side sleepers.

Back zone — medium-firmness elements providing balanced, consistent support for the lumbar region and thoracic spine — the zone where even weight distribution has the most direct impact on spinal alignment.

Leg zone — firm elements that provide stable support for the lower limbs and prevent the foot end of the mattress from sagging.

Adjustable Firmness — Soft, Medium or Firm at Each Spring Element

A further refinement: each of the 50 spring elements can be individually rotated to adjust firmness between three settings — soft, medium, or firm. This provides a degree of personalisation rarely found in a flat base — the firmness of each zone can be calibrated to the individual user’s body weight, sleeping position, and preference.

For couples, each side of a double base can be configured independently — different firmness settings for different body weights and preferences on the same base. Optional lumbar support inserts can be added to specific elements to increase firmness in the lumbar zone.

Available on Legs or as Insert Frame

The Premium Flex 500 is available either as a freestanding base on legs or as an insert frame to drop into an existing bed frame. Mattress holders to prevent slipping are available as optional accessories.

FAQ:

Q: What is the difference between the TEMPUR® Premium Flex 500 and the TEMPUR® Premium Flex 2000 — which should I choose?

Both the Flex 500 and the Flex 2000 use the same flexible honeycomb plate differential surface technology — the same 50 spring elements, the same airlift ventilation system, the same zoned construction including the shoulder zone, and the same ability to adjust firmness at individual spring elements. The internal engineering is identical.

The single difference is function: the Flex 500 is fixed flat — it does not adjust position. The Flex 2000 adds two motorsfor continuous variable adjustment of the back and leg sections, a knee hump for comfortable raised-back positioning, and Smart Base remote or smartphone control.

Choose the Flex 500 if you want TEMPUR®’s flexible plate base technology in a flat configuration — superior mattress support and ventilation, ergonomic zoning, and individual firmness adjustment — without the cost and complexity of electric motors.

Choose the Flex 2000 if you additionally want the ability to raise the back and feet for reading, reflux relief, back pain management, or improved leg circulation — and are willing to invest in the electric adjustment capability.

For those who are certain they will always sleep flat and have no therapeutic adjustment requirements, the Flex 500 delivers everything that matters most about the TEMPUR® base system at a lower price point.

Q: Why does the shoulder zone matter — what does the Dynamic Slat System actually do?

The shoulder zone is the most ergonomically significant zone on a flat bed base — because the shoulder is the body part most affected by base firmness when sleeping on your side.

When sleeping on your side, the shoulder is the widest contact point between your body and the sleeping surface. A firm, uniform base under the shoulder creates upward pressure on the shoulder joint — restricting circulation, creating muscular tension in the shoulder and neck, and causing the frequent repositioning that disrupts sleep continuity.

The Dynamic Slat System in the shoulder zone uses more compliant spring elements that allow the shoulder to sink slightly more naturally into the surface — relieving the upward joint pressure, allowing the arm and shoulder muscles to fully release, and contributing to correct cervical alignment in the lateral sleeping position.

For side sleepers, the shoulder zone is one of the most practically meaningful features of the Flex 500. Combined with TEMPUR® material above — which also softens specifically at the shoulder’s warmth and pressure — the two layers work in synergy to provide the shoulder relief that flat-on-rigid-base sleeping cannot achieve.

Q: How does the firmness adjustment system work — is it complicated to use?

The firmness adjustment on the Flex 500 is straightforward — each of the 50 spring elements can be individually rotated between three positions: soft, medium, or firm.

Each spring element has a physical orientation indicator — rotating the element changes the angle at which its spring mechanism engages, altering its compression resistance. No tools are required. The base needs to be accessible to rotate individual elements — this is most conveniently done during initial setup or when making deliberate zone adjustments, rather than as a nightly routine.

In practice, most users set their preferred configuration during initial setup and rarely adjust again — the three-position system allows personalisation rather than requiring ongoing management. A heavier sleeper may prefer firmer settings across most zones. A lighter sleeper or side sleeper may prefer softer settings in the shoulder and back zones. For couples, each side of a double base can be configured independently.

Our sleep experts are happy to guide you through the initial configuration during the free assembly service in Tbilisi.

Q: Is the TEMPUR® Premium Flex 500 compatible with non-TEMPUR® mattresses?

The Flex 500 is engineered specifically in synergy with TEMPUR® mattresses — and TEMPUR® recommends this pairing for the most complete sleep system performance. The differential flexible plate surface is designed to distribute the pressure from TEMPUR® material in a way that maximises the mattress’s adaptive properties.

That said, the Flex 500 is mechanically compatible with any foam, latex, or spring mattress of standard thickness. The flexible plate surface supports any mattress evenly, provides superior ventilation regardless of mattress type, and the individual firmness adjustment allows calibration to different mattress and sleeper combinations.

If you are pairing the Flex 500 with a TEMPUR® mattress — the Flex 500 is the ideal foundation for any model in Sleep Gallery’s TEMPUR® range, from the Form to the PRO Luxe SmartCool.

Q: The TEMPUR® Premium Flex 500 costs more than standard flat bed bases — what justifies the price?

The price reflects three specific engineering features that standard flat bases do not include.

First, the flexible honeycomb plate differential surface: 50 individual spring elements that respond independently to pressure both lengthways and crossways, distributing the mattress weight more evenly than any rigid slatted or platform base. Designing and manufacturing individual spring elements with consistent compression behaviour — to three distinct firmness settings each — is substantially more complex than producing wooden slats or a rigid platform.

Second, the airlift ventilation system: the open honeycomb structure combined with the gap pattern creates active airflow between the base and mattress — a specific ventilation engineering investment that standard flat bases do not include.

Third, the 4-zone ergonomic layout with Dynamic Slat System shoulder zone and per-element firmness adjustment: zoned base design with adjustable firmness at each element is a level of personalisation and ergonomic engineering that commodity flat bases at lower price points simply do not offer.

Made in Denmark under TEMPUR®’s own manufacturing standards. 10-year warranty with registration. Free delivery and professional assembly in Tbilisi included.
